When I hear the word caftan in terms of fashion I think of one name: Talitha Getty. I love a caftan if it’s done in an unfussy and simple way. I’ve been wearing them for years and love them, especially in a Los Angeles Summer. But, they can look frumpy if worn wrong. You have to be careful not to look like you’re trying to pull of Mrs Roper’s look. ;) It’s easy for them to engulf you if you are small or have a busy pattern. I guess they are like skinny jeans… wear with caution.
I’ve even gotten a few mini ones at my (relatively) local Hindu Temple, Govinda’s.

You won’t hear a ton of personal talk here on the Shop Lovely Blog because well, we like to stick to the topic(s) of Shoping Lovely! I have had some personal issues to deal with and it’s caused a massive, avalanche-sized back log of to-do lists that haven’t gotten done. I had so many great topics that I wanted to post about. Things I thought about while waiting in line or while BlackBerrying at my local coffee shop. You get the idea. I was a little sad that the time escaped me and so I’ve decided to retroactively post them all the way I wanted to in the first place. So If you’re subscribed, you will get a ton of new posts. Don’t fret- we’ll be posting regularly again starting well, now.

If you’re like most people who love denim, it’s just so hard to find the right pair! I always think to myself, “they’re great except this one little thing”. IndiDenim.com has found your solution.
You can choose the fit, the wash, even the pockets. I opted for the uber-dark denim with the plain, slightly rounded pockets and zip fly. I am so excited!
I’ll let you know how they fit! At the price of $135.00, they are what I call a luxur-cesity.

Sex and the City. The clothes, the clothes, the clothes. The men (with the exception of a handful), I could give or take. I am talking about the series, not the film. With the ups and downs these women experienced, how could they not need fashion? Fashion doesn’t disappoint you, at least it does it less often…
After really being honest with myself, I began to realize just how much fashion means to me. I hated the idea of being so superficial but, I wore high heels while pregnant for crying out loud. Not kitten heels, either: Louboutin talon - heeled monstrosities and Missoni to my baby shower. It matters to me.
When I see something I must have. I will get it. Living in Los Angeles has alerted me almost daily that I am definitely not alone.
That brings us to our second part on our little expose on Sex and the City: The Clothes: Pat Field is responsible for bringing Sex and the the City into a uber-status-fashion-icon status worthy show. Never underestimate what an amazing stylist can do for you.

The fashion blogs are swirling with accolades and acknowledgments of the late, great Yves Saint Laurent. We think he deserves another. Thank you to one of the most influential fashion designers of our time.
If you happen to be in Montreal, I encourage you to see the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit. I am amazed at the quality and relevance that even some of his vintage pieces still have. They will continue to stand the test of time.
